Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • Contents • Presentation of new proposals • FSTD Steering Group activities
Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • Presentation of new proposals • JAA AGM Section 6 – FSTD TGLs • TGL # 12: • Guidance for the enhanced vision system (EVS) simulator qualification • TGL # 13: • Old visual systems and new visual scenes for FSTDs • TGL # 14: • Guidance on evaluations of electrical motion systems for FSTDs
Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • TGL # 12: • Guidance for the enhanced vision system (EVS) simulator qualification
Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • TGL # 12: • Guidance for the enhanced vision system (EVS) simulator qualification • TGL specifies: • Applicability • Compliance Certificate • Simulator Standards • Objective Tests • Subjective Tests • Qualification Test Guide (QTG)
Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • TGL # 13: • Old visual systems and new visual scenes for FSTDs • JAR-STD-1A simulator requirements for visual systems are 3 fully simulated airport scenes (so called “real’ scenes). • Older, grandfathered, visual systems are not able to simulate the modern large airport scenes of today with sometimes 5 runways or more, complex taxi routings etc. • This TGL specifies that visual systems manufactured before 1994 shall therefore be allowed to display only part of the by JAR-STD 1A required visual details for the scenes offered for evaluation by the authority. • The detail to be provided shall be correct within reasonable limits, up to the decision of the certifying authority.
Update JAA FSTD Steering Group to OST Meeting 07-3 • TGL # 14: • Guidance on evaluations of electrical motion systems for FSTDs • Introduction of new technology, as alternative for hydraulic power packs used to drive hydraulic rams are expensive and have high power consumption. • A new method of activating the legs of a simulator by means of electric motors is now being introduced throughout the JAA community. • A number of areas have been identified where specific attention is required due to the different characteristics of the new technology: • Noise originating in the motion system and being transferred to flight deck level • Motion cues for certain manoeuvres like flare, touchdown etc. • Frequency response for models of runway roughness and turbulence • Issues of safety and reliability • TGL specifies recommendations for improvement.
