Craven County Schools initiated a strategic planning process from February to December 2018 involving a 30-member committee representing all schools and positions. The process focused on six key drivers: Leadership, Instructional Models, Modern Curriculum, Professional Learning, Digital Ecosystems, and Community. Goals were set for improving teaching, learning, community engagement, and operational efficiency. The plan aims to foster curious learners and support educators to provide high-quality, personalized education. Key roles like Literacy Coordinator and Math Coach were established, along with an updated curriculum implementation schedule. The district also organized professional development events like the Craven Summit on August 20, 2019.
