  3. POG Charter • The SIS Project Oversight Group is responsible for making recommendations to CEC on the overall SIS Project including several key, strategic issues. • The POG was formed with representation from each college but will also garner input from other resources at their colleges • The primary mechanism for making recommendations will be the consideration of Strategic Issue Assessments developed for the POG

  4. Leadership Model • How will project become “User–Driven” not “IT-Driven”? • The POG and tri-chairs will consider strategic issues and make recommendations on them to CEC • A POG member will be designated as the User Project Manager • User PM and ITS PM together will direct the project • CIT will continue working on the project to accomplish the goals and deliverables decided by the project leadership • User PM and ITS PM will work closely together to ensure adequate college/user participation and to gather information to support the POG in making decisions.

  5. Strategic Issue Assessments • ‘Strategic Issue Assessments’ will be developed for strategic issues being considered by the POG • SIA’s developed at the request of the POG with input from SIS Project team, CIT, consultants, and others • SIA’s would include options and an approach to considering the issue that involved adequate project & user representation • The User PM would coordinate any required action and the ultimate consideration of the issue by the POG • The POG would make a final recommendation and forward to CEC

  6. Strategic Issues • Scope – • Push forward as-is or with minor modifications • Open up functionality, scope, & approach • Which Version – 8.0 or 8.9? • Which DB – Oracle or SQL Server? • Helpdesk/Support Model • New Date for Go-Live

  7. 3 Potential Go-Live Scenarios • Fast Implementation – Limit scope, keep current architecture, push to earliest date • Moderate Delay – Review and make moderate changes in functionality and new architecture including 8.9 & Oracle DB • Redesign – Start over with open approach to scope, architecture, and project structure

  8. Consulting Update • Proposing a CedarCrestone combined team • Functional • Technical • Project Management • Need a decision on this engagement • Will also consider strategic issues (SIAs) • Tentatively, will organize this month and execute next month

  9. Next Steps • Identification of the User Project Manager • Development of initial SIA’s • Engage with Consultants • Presentation at CEC retreat – 1/25/06 • Budgets - Short-term & Long-term
