Evaluation question 5 The Driver Myles Ahwal
Marketing Tools Our target audience are young adults and teenagers, this makes ways we can reach out to them very easy as most of the people in this age group use social media and this is what we would use to market our film.Examples of social media we would use to get our film out to our target audience are: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube. We would take influence from previous films which have advertised in public and got themselves recognition, eg. Carrie. This stunt was done in a normal coffee shop and got the attention of many, although it was high budget we believe we can do something similar with the budget we have available. We would not use push advertising as it can often be very expensive and not incredibly effective for a smaller scale film.
Audience Feedback In order to gauge how our opening title sequence addressed our target audience, we showed our film to our target audience and received the following feedback: In terms of genre the feedback given was positive with most of the viewers commenting on the effectiveness of the mystery element and how it was very typical of a thriller. There were also a lot of comments on how our soundtrack fitted very well and helped to build suspense. The feedback on our mise-en-scene was very positive towards costume with comments such as, ‘The casual costume makes it more believable’. Viewers also liked the car being used as a prop as they said it looked ‘professional’. The locations we used also received good feedback, with people saying it looked good because they were normal places which they can relate to. We had some very constructive comments on our cinematography, especially camerawork. Many viewers thought the range of shots within the car was effective, making the driver look suspicious and typical to the thriller genre. We had comments on our editing with viewers praising the timing of the drops in the music with the acting on screen.
