evaluation Question 2 Jack mcfarlane
Main character - The type of character in my is male 16 year middle class boy, when we started filming the OTS we tried to hide his face, which worked well because it make him look older but when it came to filming in the garage we had to show a lot of his face which made him look 16, so we changed the character to be a young criminal who is dropping of a bag to someone on the roof, this makes him seem variable and inexperienced. The main character is typical for this genre because he’s wearing his hood up and is looking down when he’s outside trying to hide his face. The way he acts seen quite emotionless especially when he takes the bag and this makes the audience think he’s done it before and knows what he's doing. Up until the roof scene he seems in control but then you relies that he's only boy and is unaware of what going to happen and how much danger he's in. This character would probably represent a male small time criminal, who is venerable because of his age. And is new to what he doing in result he gets hit and taken hostage. The props for this character are the bag, and the camera work shows that the bag has an important role in the narrative for example in this screen shot the camera is at bag level so you look straight at it. His hoodie make him seem like he doesn’t want to be seen and is trying to hide away. The setting also depicts a thriller film because he's in a car park on his own and then makes his way up to the roof which is a very high up location so no one would be able to see him. The expression on his face also gives it away that he's a criminal because he try's not to show any emotion to make himself look not scared.
Character Similarity's This is a character Trife from the film Kidulthood which is also a independent film, this character has many similarity's to the our main character. First of all he's also a teenager as you can see in the picture to the left, he is also new to being a criminal and is doing very small this, but then he gets asked to join in with his uncle and everything gets out of hand. This is similar to our film in the way that is about a boy who gets into to crime and isn't really and big part of what's going on for example he's just delivering a bag to the top floor for someone but gets caught in the cross fire and gets attacked by the antagonist, which leads him into big trouble. In Kidulthood the main character also gets into trouble with the wrong people and ends up in a life threating situation. Both these characters link together because they don’t know what's coming and aren't proper criminals even though they seem like it. Gets into larger crimes involving weapons but doesn’t expecting happening Starts off as small time criminal The hood James is wearing links to the character Sam for Kidulthood because they are both trying to hid there identity because there are committing a crime.
