Objectives • Explain Delaware distance delivery • Discuss partnerships • Demonstrate how to organize Internet resources • Examine low cost web based instructional resources
Diploma-At-A-Distance (DAAD) • Created in 1997 to provide adult education anytime, anywhere in Delaware • Vision: a world class model of distance delivery to adult high school students • Mission: to offer a personalized program with quality instruction, effective support, and customer service at low cost to the student — supported by staff who are responsive, flexible, knowledgeable, and caring • Instruction offered asynchronously
ABE At-A-Distance (DABE) • Created in 2001 to provide adult basic education to high ABE learners anytime, anywhere in Delaware • Vision: a world class model of distance delivery to adults needing basic skills development • Mission: to enable adult learners to become more effective employees, family members, and community participants by providing them the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment, become better parents, and become more involved in their communities • Instruction offered asynchronously with Web-based content, voice-overs, and video
Family Literacy At-A-Distance (FLAAD) • Created in 2002 to provide family literacy anytime, anywhere in Delaware • Vision: a world class model for distance delivery to adults and their children • Mission: to provide distance delivery to families with children under the age of 8 whose parents are at the high ABE level or beyond. It is designed to offer the four components of family literacy to help parents to help their children do better in school • Instruction offered asynchronously
Orientation • DCDAL offers 5 Semesters per year: • 2 Fall, 2 Spring, 1 Summer • Student contact prior to orientation • Orientation process • Enrollment into a DCDAL program • Orientation follow-ups
