  4. About me… Mrs Hills I have over 15 years Teaching experience, having worked at several other local primary schools before joining Rushmere. Since starting at Ruhmere I have taught in the Nursery alongside Mrs Dagnall and I have also been EYFS Phase Leader for several years before moving to part-time hours and becoming a member of the Reception Team, teaching the Penguin Class Mon/Tues/Wed (with Mrs Dagnall teaching Thur/Fri).

  5. About me… Mrs Dagnall I have been working in Early Years for the past 20 years. I have been at Rushmere for the past 11 years. I am in Penguin class on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning as the T.A. as this fits around having my own small children and I am the class teacher on a Thursday and Friday.

Getting a chance to speak to me… • After school is best but Mrs Steward should also be on the playground each morning before school and she will either try to help or pass on a message. • Messages can be given to any adults who are on duty in the morning. • Emails can be sent via the school office, which will then be forwarded. The email address is: office@rushmerehall.org.uk Whilst I will endeavour to reply promptly, please be mindful that because of classroom commitments, this may not always be possible.

  16. Trips / Visitors Planned this term Please note: - Across the course of the school year, the school intends to arrange or organise 3 extra curricular trips / events / visitors. The school is not able to subsidise these trips. The cost of the trips for this year group will be £25 and must be paid within this academic year (either as a one-off payment OR spread across the course of the year).   17. Clubs As always there are a number of clubs that will run across the course of the new academic year. Some of the clubs take place during the lunchtime period; others take place after school. Some of the club are free of charge; others require a small contribution. Clubs will be advertised via ParentMail Notes… • Bookings for clubs will be released at 6PM in the evening. • Clubs are restricted to specific year groups • In general, parents will only be allowed to book their child onto 1 club only • Each half term / term the clubs will change. The club coordinator will aim to get a range of different clubs on the timetable for a range of different age groups. Final point… A large number of our clubs are free of charge. Many schools charge for their clubs. We are able to offer clubs for free because our staff offer to run them for free. We are extremely grateful to the staff as without them these clubs wouldn’t happen, and if they did parents would be expected to pay.

  23. Uniform Remember… This year letters will be triggered for children not wearing the correct uniform to school. Hoodies… Apart from Year 6 in July… hoodies cannot be worn in school. If children arrive at school wearing a hoodie, the expectation is that as soon as they are in the classroom they are wearing their school jumper.

  24. P.E. Kit Remember… The office will no longer phone home if children forget their P.E. kits.

  25. Breakfast Club @ Rushmere Key details 7:30am - 9:00am £5 per session 8:15am - 9:00am £3.00 per session Breakfast is served during the first session only (7:30 - 8:15am) Sessions must be booked in advance and paid for using the SchoolsBuddy system. More information available on the website

  26. Twitter From September 2019, the school will move over to Twitter in order to share and promote elements of daily school life. This means from September, the school blogs will no longer be in use. There are number of reasons for the change: • The ease and accessibility of twitter to all. • Updating the school blogs (via the website) is time consuming and often some blogs are updated more than others. • The school blogs are not looked at often enough (a) many parents don’t read them (b) some parents have stopped looking because they are not always updated. Twitter plan… SEPTEMBER 2019 – HT will launch Twitter account for the school. Twitter feed will be added to the school website. HT will add content to twitter based on events taking place in the school. DHTs will also be given access to the twitter account. BEFORE DECEMBER 2019 – Phase leaders / year group leaders will begin to add content about things taking place in their phase / year groups.

Curriculum • At Rushmere Hall, we prepare our children for their future. • We do this by equipping them with tools for life. • Our children will know a lot and will be able to do a lot. • Our children will work hard and be kind to people. • Our children will be inspired by others and by the world around them. • Our children will be independent, resilient and able to live happily in modern British Society.

  29. The RushmereToolkit Along with our current curriculum we intend to teach a range of other skills to our children. Some schools refer to it as a ‘hidden curriculum’ we believe that all these things add to our toolkit for life.   30. At Rushmere Hall, we have an addition to our curriculum, called our Toolkit for Life. We have written this because we want to build our children’s general knowledge and life skills. This learning will run alongside normal lessons and will also happen on the playground, in assemblies, in clubs or during those quiet moments in class. For example, we will play music as the children come in and out of assembly, or teach the children games on the playground. We wrote the Toolkits ourselves and so they are unique to Rushmere Hall and we hope they reflect the needs and interests of our children. We really enjoyed writing our Toolkits and we are excited about the opportunities it will give our children to broaden their experience of the world. We hope you enjoy using the Toolkits at home but remember, this is not homework, rather the toolkits should give you ideas for activities and skills to share with your child. Notes for teachers: - Toolkits will be printed for the children to take home - A3 laminated copies will be delivered to classrooms - There will be a webpage in due course

  44. ParentMail • All communication is sent out via ParentMail • Parents will receive the information as an email AND as a notification via the ParentMail app. • 97% of our parents now have ParentMail

Photo Permission • If you have completed a photo permission form already… those arrangements stay in place for the whole time your child is at this school. • If you want to change your preferences… resubmit the form with your new preferences and these will override the current arrangements. • If you haven’t completed a form… Complete a form now and hand in to the office

  46. Internet Permission • These need to be completed yearly in line with the schools Online Safety Policy. • Copies of the Acceptable use of the Internet policy will be sent out with a ParentMail. • Internet permission can be provided by completing the ParentMail form (being sent soon).

  47. Local Trip Permission • In September parents will be sent a local trip permission slip… • Once signed… this gives the school permission to take any child on a trip that is within walking distance to the school. E.g. Northgate, Colchester Road Church • The school will still inform you that a trip is taking place but will not seek additional permissions.
