Quick intro into why this analysis is key • Apologies for the length of this PowerPoint however I am firmly convinced that this document is vital. • Here is my analysis to my questionnaire results. • I am aware that this analysis is key. There is no point in completing a questionnaire unless I can analyse, interpret and draw conclusions from the data I have collected.
Question 1: Gender • Ultimately I only chose this question to see if there was any correlation in the results perhaps due to preference from a certain gender. • However I can assure you that this was not the case. The overall representation of gender from my questionnaire was that it had not bearing on the other results.
Question 2: Social setting • With the research I have done particularly in the ‘La Haine Research’ document it is evident that I am taking social setting very seriously in my film. Thus why I included this question. • The response was very pleasing. It’s nice to know that I am not the only person who thinks social setting is important. • I think ultimately it’s further reinforced my view that social setting is important and has made me more determined to have significant meaning from the social setting I choose in my film.
Question 3: Gritty, realistic shooting • The overall reaction to this was that gritty realistic style shooting was very effective. • 6 people said they loved it and 8 said it was overused but effective none the less. • The result that 57% of people thought it was overused but effective tells me that maybe I should not use large amounts of this style of shooting. Maybe just incorporate it into certain shots/scenes.
Question 4: Fight Club • I included this question as I believe that as shown in my ‘Fight Club research’ document I am aiming to incorporate certain elements from ‘Fight Club’ into my film. Therefore I was interested to see if people were fans of the film. • From the reaction I got this was certainly the case. As despite 29% of people not having seen it the other 71% of people gave it a high rating. • What I have learnt from these results is that hopefully if I successfully use similar elements to ‘Fight Club’ hopefully it will give my film similar popularity among my audience.
Question 5: Existentialism • As stated in previous documents I am very keen for my film to incorporate existential elements. • I included this question as I wanted to establish the general awareness of existentialism from my audience. • The results from this question and the fact that only 28% of people had heard of existentialism is in my opinion not a negative result as some may believe. • I affirm that the lack of awareness of existentialism is something that could benefit my film as it hopefully will enlighten my audience about the interesting ideas that existentialism has to offer.
Question 6: Existentialism continued.. • I think continued from the last question (the previous slide) this question was more important. • Actually establishing existentialism in a sentence and then allowing myself to see peoples responses is much more vital in my opinion. • And the results were brilliant! With not one of my answerers giving a negative response to the question. • Ultimately the results from this question has reinforced my view that existentialism will form a key subplot to my story. With the protagonists questioning their existence whilst they are depressed about the death of their mother.
Question 7: Emotionally broken protagonists • Similar to existentialism another aspect that will be present in my film will be two emotionally broken or unstable protagonists. • I was really interested in seeing the response to this question obviously these characters are vital to the film, thus the results were pleasing that the majority of people agreed that two emotionally broken protagonists would be appealing in my film
Question 8: Intertextuality • I think that this question was undoubtedly very important. • I am thinking about using certain quotes from famous novels or films to add a sense of panache and grit to my film • I believe intertextuality could really benefit my film and show the extent of how much I am willing to research to better my film. • However as 62% of people thought that it would have to be done well to be effective it is something I am going to have to research thoroughly and deploy very well in my film.
Question 9: Music • As a person I am a very big music fan. • I am keen to make sure music plays a bit part in capturing the mood of my film. • I included this question as I wanted to be certain that my audience placed the same importance on music as myself. • Viewing the results this certainly was the case as 79% of people were convinced that music was very important in capturing the mood of my film.
Conclusion • Overall most of my questions came back with the positive response that further reinforced my original inklings. • Despite this there are certain lessons I can learn from my results • I must do significant research into my intertextual references and make sure they are effective. • I need to make sure with my existential references or sub plot it is not really loose or too specific as lots of people are not familiar with the philosophy. • I should probably not use large amounts of ‘gritty realistic style shooting’ only use it for certain scenes.
