  2. How to look at art… Content vs. Form • CONTENT • Literal Content: What is literally represented in the image? Make no assumptions. • Interpreted Content: What is implied/suggested/felt by the literal content?

How to look at art… Content vs. Form • FORM • Composition is how the overall space of the artwork is used. • Good composition creates a dynamic space where everything is considered and feels intentional. The viewer is allowed to move throughout the entire compositional space. • Bad composition consists of awkward unused spaces. It feels poorly planned and unintentionally focuses the viewer’s attention too much in one place.
