Practice Test • Complete the practice test over Act 1. • When you’re finished, begin silent reading or finish your homework.
EA 1 • The assignment is to accurately perform a scene from Romeo and Juliet. • The following are potential roles you can play in your first assessment. As I explain each one, consider if which one you’d like to do best. • In a few weeks, you’ll get examples of each notebook and be assigned a scene on which to focus.
Dramaturge – research scene in order for the scene to be acted accurately • List of research questions (i.e. what is the proper form for a duel?) • Notes that answer research questions • Bibliography of sources you used in research • List your suggestions for the scene (based on your research how should each actor perform, etc.?) and present these ideas to the group • Reflection essay in which you consider your research and how well you were able to complete each task • Director – decides on how scene is acted, as well as scenery, props, etc. • Notes about visual and vocal delivery of scene (annotations on text) ; makes sure everyone does his/her job • Diagram of set with details (i.e. where props are, lighting, etc.) • List or props
Everyone must do a character analysis of ONE character in the scene. This will include • Describe your ideal costume and why it’s appropriate for your character • Explanation of a character’s thoughts, actions, obstacles, and overall personality in the scene, as well as in the play overall
