What is Seamless Acceptance? Seamless Acceptance – Vision StatementImplementing value-added systems to streamline and automate the business processes of accepting, verifying, paying, and inducting business mailings into the USPS mail stream.
MTAC Workgroup 100 Desired Results of Workgroup • Identify gaps in the PostalOne! system that inhibit transition from paper postage statements/documentation to electronic • Evaluate Web Services and Mail.dat to identify enhancements to facilitate migration to electronic postage and documentation • Define capabilities of seamless acceptance for both in-house and third party MLOCR environments for First-Class Mail® • Identify gaps in current acceptance and verification processes • Identify key differences between in-house and third party providers of MLOCR processing, and identify gaps in each environment • Identify gaps in USPS communication systems that inhibit timely feedback of verification or performance information to the mailer
MTAC Workgroup 100 Pilot Test Status • Two mailers, Prudential in Millville, NJ & PSI in Omaha, NE volunteered to participate in Pilot Test • They agreed to use Mail.dat platform to transmit electronic documentation and postage • Several telecons held between USPS, Prudential, PSI, and Bell & Howell to develop the pilot test procedures • Vendor, Bell & Howell, developed MLOCR First-Class Mail.dat upgrade
MTAC Workgroup 100 Prudential – Pilot Status • USPS headquarters produced GAPS analysis for Prudential • Bell & Howell upgraded Prudential software to produce Mail.dat file • Prudential capable of producing Mail.dat files after MLOCR first pass • Prudential Mail.dat files to USPS for entry into Test • USPS has provided Prudential with access to PostalOne! • Prudential identified computer for access to PostalOne! during pilot • USPS HQ has reviewed PostalOne! Dashboard with the local BMEU • USPS HQ visited Prudential plant to assess mail flow processes
MTAC Workgroup 100 PSI – Pilot Status • Bell & Howell has upgraded PSI software to produce Mail.dat file • PSI sent mailing information to Bell & Howell, who has converted it to a Mail.dat file & sent it to USPS for testing • PSI has sent 5 Standard mailings and 5 FCM to USPS for CAT testing • PSI has one ACE computer at their Omaha, NE facility and is preparing to bring this facility online for testing March 1 to transmit MLOCR Mail.dat file electronically to PostalOne!
MTAC Workgroup 100 Pilot Next Steps • Evaluate Pilot Test and report at next MTAC meeting • Evaluate capability to transmit Mail.dat file directly to PostalOne! from MLOCR platform • USPS to upgrade PostalOne! with newly submitted requirements to generate postage statements from MLOCR Mail.dat file, including postage due portion
PostalOne! Enhancements and Changes • Dashboard will display consolidated reports • Improved Reports • Improved postage statement processing. • Automated Value Added Refund process.
