10. Consequences of not performing QC Tests If QC is NOT performed, misleading results may lead to inappropriate treatment
Always follow your hospital protocol to avoid putting patients at risk
Under MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) guidelines it is your responsibility to perform/document QC results
The Precision Xceed Pro will prompt when this is due
QC solution is stable for 90 days after opening, so when opening a new bottle write the expiry date on the bottle.
11. Performing Quality Control (QC) Tests
Turn the Precision Xceed Pro on via the ‘On/Off’ button & select option ‘2’ (2-Control Test) via the keypad
When prompted Scan :
Your Operator Barcode
The Low Level solution Barcode
The Strip Lot Barcode
Follow the steps on Screen
Before applying solution, gently invert to mix & prevent air locks
Repeat the procedure for High Level Solution by :
Selecting option ‘1’ (1-Next Level) via the keypad
Following the on-screen prompts
12. Open the strip using the triangular notch in the foil tearing down & across the length of the strip
Ensure the 3 electrodes enter the port facing upward
A sample can be applied to the top or tip of the test strip
Apply a sample with the meter in a horizontal (flat) position to avoid it entering the strip port
Fill trigger electrode ensures a sufficient sample is applied
The result, or ‘PASS’ or ‘FAIL’, is displayed after 20-second countdown Performing Quality Control (QC) Tests
13. Performing Quality Control (QC) Tests If results are out-of-range or ‘FAIL’ :
Repeat test (option ‘2’)
Ensure you follow correct procedure & technique for QC testing
If repeated results are in-range or ‘PASS’ you can proceed
If either repeated result is out-of-range or ‘FAIL’ follow Hospital Protocol for out-of-range Results
If proceeding to a patient test, press the ‘Menu’ key and you will be returned to the main menu
14. External Quality Assessment (EQA)
Where QC is a means of self-checking reliable results are attained, EQA involves the analysis of samples with unknown values from an external source
These will be sent out on a regular basis from the laboratory
Results are then subject to analysis to compare results across different sites

16. Performing a Patient Test Turn the Precision Xceed Pro on via the ‘On/Off’ button & select option ‘1’ (1-Patient Test) via the keypad
When prompted Scan/Enter :
Your Operator Barcode
The Patient ID Barcode/Number
The Strip Lot Barcode
If you have to enter a patient ID number manually using the keypad you will be asked to enter the number correctly twice before being allowed to proceed to the next step
Follow the steps on Screen, ensuring you follow Hospital Protocol for sample collection

18. Limitations of Use
Particular care should be taken with those patients who are extremely unwell, particularly if they are :
Severely dehydrated
Severely hypotensive or in shock
In a hyperglycaemic-hyperosmolar state e.g. DKA
In these cases test results may be erroneously low
If in doubt, send a venous sample to the laboratory
19. Action Ranges Action Range
A result falling outside the action range will require some intervention from the operator, such as to repeat the result. A comment code can be scanned/entered into the meter.
For guidance on out of range results, please follow your Hospital protocol.
20. Recalling Patient Results
To recall patient results :
With the Precision Xceed Pro turned on :
Press the ‘Menu’ button
Press button ‘1’ (1-Data Review)
Enter your Operator ID, either via keypad or scan
In Data Review you can choose to view :
All Patient Data, to scroll through all stored patient results
Patient by Patient ID, to scroll through a particular patient’s results
Patient by Operator ID, to scroll through all patient results you have taken
21. Data Upload ‘Docking the Precision Xceed Pro’
Data Upload :
Place the Precision Xceed Pro in the Docking Station every 24 hours, as per Hospital Protocol or when the meter prompts you
Data transfer only takes approx 10-20 seconds
Store the Precision Xceed Pro in its Workstation when data transfer is complete
Several Precision Xceed Pro Meters can use the same Docking Station
After 3 ~ 4 mins of non use the Meter will turn off automatically
22. Health & Safety
Always follow Hospital Protocol for Health & Safety !
Never place used Sharps or Test Strips in the workstation
Read & Understand the ‘Limitation of Use’ section, clearly printed on the insert that comes with every box of test strips
Clean the Precision Xceed Pro & Workstation thoroughly as instructed.
23. Maintenance
24. Maintenance Maintenance of the Precision Xceed Pro System :
Clean the Precision Xceed Pro & Workstation with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Acceptable cleaning solutions include alcohol and ammonia based cleaners. Bleach is not recommended.
Replace ‘AA’ Alkaline batteries when ‘Low Battery Power’ message is displayed.
Perform QC Test as per Hospital Protocol, when ‘QC Due Now’ or ‘Low, High Control Tests Required’ is displayed.
Dock the Precision Xceed Pro as per Hospital Protocol, when ‘Upload Due Now’ or ‘Upload Required’ is displayed
‘Error nnn’, refer to Trouble shooting guide in Precision Xceed Pro Operator’s Manual.
When not in use, always store the Precision Xceed Pro Meter in it’s Workstation.
