Thousands arrested; many were immigrants • 500+ deported without being charged • Public officials expelled!! (New York communists)
Sacco and Vanzetti • April, 1920 a paymaster at a shoe factory was robbed and killed • Italian immigrants (Bartolomeo Vanzetti and Nicola Sacco) arrested- carrying same gun used in crime • Found guilty despite no real evidence-executed in 1927 • Trial seen as unfair (read 343)
