Increasing Membership Among Current Chapters STEPS TO INCREASING MEMBERSHIP Recruitment—not only for co-op students; membership is open to all students Student Buy-In—select a committee of class members to plan monthly social events that bring in perspective members. Use the social event to update out-of-class members of DECA chapter activities
Increasing Membership Among Current Chapters STEPS TO INCREASING MEMBERSHIP Recruitment—colleagues, business people, parents, alumni Have students approach these people to ask them to join DECA. By supporting DECA, these groups will help build leadership in students.
Increasing Membership Among Current Chapters REWARDS & RECOGNITION • Recognition on home page of website with Goal Bar Graph • For every 10% increase over previous year, receive $50 in DECA Images testing software or a reduction in CDC registration. • Recognition of: -largest chapter in each region -largest percentage increase over previous year -largest chapter in state -largest membership of 9th, 10th, and 11th graders -largest alumni membership -largest professional memberships

Developing New Chapters & Advisors HOW DO YOU START • Contact State Advisor • Meet your mentor • Request a membership start-up kit • Talk to administration and counselor • Collect dues, create an online chapter, and submit members. (Those teachers who are unsure of starting a chapter this year will be offered a free membership in DECA for 1 year.) • Utilize available resources to develop chapter and promote DECA (online resources, DECA unit/test, Train-the-Trainer Workshop, Summer New Advisor Workshop at LACTE, Bring Your Classroom to Life, etc.)
