EANGUS/ENGTN Our Purpose: To organize all enlisted persons and work together for the purpose of advancing the standing, prestige, and social welfare of the National Guard. To improve the position and status of the enlisted members in their relationship with the civilian community as well as in a military environment. To develop and promote legislation designed to obtain these purposes.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act: Guard Empowerment • President Barack Obama signed the NDAA on December 31st of 2011. It includes a provision giving the Guard’s senior officer, the chief of the National Guard Bureau (NGB), a permanent seat on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. • the Guard’s most significant legislative victory since the Militia Act of 1903 created the modern, dual-mission National Guard. • the NDAA enables the NGB chief to sit with the heads of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. • Provides the Guard, for the first time, permanent representation among the nation’s senior military officers. • Requirements for the Pentagon to delineate Guard and Reserve equipment procurement in future budget requests and to prepare a report to Congress on the costs of Guard and Reserve units. • Guard and Reserve officers can be considered for appointment to certain command positions. • Creates a new three-star position of NGB vice chief and provides permanent funding to the Guard’s State Partnership Program with democratic nations all over the world.

EANGTN Scholarships CSM VIRGIL R. WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP $2,000 each awarded to 10 winners EANGTN SCHOLARSHIP The following persons are eligible: EANGTN members Unmarried, dependent sons and daughters of EANGTN members Spouses of EANGTN members The following persons are eligible: 1. EANGUS members 2. Unmarried sons and daughters of EANGUS members 3. Spouses of EANGUS members 4. Unmarried spouses and unmarried dependent sons and daughters of deceased EANGUS members who were in good standing at the time of their death. Six $1,000 scholarships and one $700.00 technical scholarship
EANGTN Auxiliary • Purpose: • To organize all spouses of enlisted persons who are members in good standing of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Tennessee. To work together in unison for the purpose of advancing the standing, prestige, and social welfare of the Tennessee National Guard. • To support or spouses in their efforts to improve their position and status in their relationship with the civilian community as well as in a military environment. • Contact the EANGTN Office for more information on becoming an Auxiliary Member at 615.781.2000.
EANGTN AuxiliarySolider & Airman Relief Fund • Offers an opportunity to apply for one-time emergency grant to any current Tennessee National Guard member • All requests should be processed through the soldier’s chain of command with an endorsement by the unit First Sergeant, or a designated representative to also include Family Assistant Specialists.
Membership • TN is ranked 3rd in the Nation for Membership! • Types of membership: • Annual – members of the National Guard and retirees, dues are paid every year • Life – members of National Guard and retirees, one-time fee payment for life • Associate – individuals who aren’t members of the National Guard, dues are paid every year • Associate Life – lifetime membership for associates • Corporate – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Plus membership levels • Honorary – bestowed by EANGUS leaders

Get Involved Become a Unit Representative • We recommend that unit representatives be a junior enlisted service member. • Frees up the senior personnel from additional responsibilities • Allows lower enlisted to feel a part of something bigger. • More impactful for the younger service members to hear information about our Association from their peers. • Unit Representatives are responsible for all Association business, i.e. collecting dues, keeping unit apprised of State and National Association news, etc.
