  2. OVERVIEW • What is the Same • What Changes • Moving Forward: • Clubs • Students • Process

  3. Some things remain the same • Students must go abroad • Must fulfill ambassador commitments • Preference for non-English speaking countries • Must reside (study/work) in or hold permanent residence in District 6970

  4. The Changes • Areas of Focus • Must go to a Pilot District • Scholar Must be pursuing a graduate degree • Possibility of match to increase award amounts ($25 K to $30K) • Possibility of less cost to District • Scholarship may be FV Global or District Grant • Strong Preference for programs with Post October 1 start dates

  5. Moving Forward: Clubs • Must be “Certified” for Grants • Must have a 2 to 3 person Outbound Scholar Committee • Must commit to manage as a District Grant • District Committee will assist with travel preparation details • Parallel Paths Planned • Must be ready to exercise patience

  6. Moving Forward: Students • Must be in process of applying to graduate degree program (Preference for one-year programs. Acceptance required by June.) • Must be planning to attend in next academic year (Seniors or Graduates) • Must be in one of the 6 areas of focus • Must be likely to generate sustainable, high impact outcomes

  7. Process Timeline • September • district scholarship brochure posted to District website • Clubs begin advertising and recruitment • October/November • Clubs receive and process applications • December 15 – clubs submit applications to regional committees • January 28 – Nominees forwarded to District Committee • February 19 – District Interviews and selection
