History of Notes Development • Netcellent developed Notes for Macola® in 1991. • Note type function in 1992. • Tickler function in 1997. • Graphical user interface in 1998. • Tickler reminder function in 1999. • Knowledgebase function in 2000. • Notes have been mature through a long period.
Notes Overview • Notes are a global function that lets users enter additional notes for any master record like a customer, item, vendor or order record. • It’s unlimited • It’s an extension to the Elliott database • It’s searchable • It’s printable • Notes can become tickler as reminder • Tickler can become management tool
Notes vs. Attributes • Attribute was introduced with Elliott® V7 (2002) • Attribute expand Elliott Database without modification. • Notes was available since Macola® V5 (1991) • Before Attribute was available, Notes is the only way to expand Elliott Database without modification. • Notes is more suitable for free form text. • Notes can be used as a way to expand Elliott Database too. However, attribute is more suitable than notes for this purpose now.

Tickler Overview • Ticklers are an extension to Notes. By designating a note as a tickler you will be reminded on a certain date and time that a task/tickler is due. • Reminder tool • Management tool • Work Flow Management • Process Management

Demo Tickler Setup • Tickler Reminder work for up to 10 Companies. • You must identify the Data directory that you wish Tickler Reminder to monitor • In Setup Preference (Tool Bar), Choose Tickler tab to configure. • Common Tickler Support Question • Why tickler button is disabled?

Setup Company Hierarchy • Setup company hierarchy for note and tickler security • A Supervisor can see the ticklers of his/her subordinates as well as the hierarchy structure designated to them
Assign tasks to employees • A supervisor can assign tickler to him/her self, as well as his/her subordinates • Subordinates may or may not change/delete this tickler, depending on the note type
Launch Tickler during Startup • Tickler can be automatically executed during startup. It will run as part of the background processes, invisible to the user, until triggered. • Simply place a shortcut into your Windows Startup folder

Tickler as Internal Email • In the Global Setup, you can optionally let a user assign task to any other users (regardless of the hierarchy structure) • To use tickler as Internal Email, you will then assign the task to another user and due immediately. • The tickler will show up on another user screen within 1 minute.
