  2. Regional Nubian Aquifer Overview of Nubian Aquifer System (NSAS) region and location in Africa.

Nubian Sandstone Aquifer ProjectOverview • Project started in July 2006. • Water Resources considered to be non-renewable • Countries (Chad, Egypt, Libya and Sudan) cooperating over the past 4 decades • Expressed interest in regional cooperation • Challenge acquire-sufficient knowledge about existing resources within the Nubian Aquifer • 1997-2002 IFAD and CEDARE conducted concluded socio-economic survey resulting in the Regional Information System (NARIS).

Key Outputs and Facts • Final National legal framework document • Regional Legal Report with SWOT analysis of Statutes • Joint Authority established 1989 is now the agreed authority for implementation of the SAP. • The Shared Aquifer Diagnostic Analysis (SADA) scientific basis for development of 3D model • 3D groundwater flow model is the established tool • SAP implementation: Address Ecosystem challenges, Capacity building, Address Legal issues raised in the SWOT.
