Center For Career Management • Center For Career Management provides specific information on careers, effective job search techniques, and contact with employers from all sectors of the employment market to facilitate realistic career and employment goals. • Cooperative Education Programs are just one of the many services offered through the Center For Career Management.
What is a Co-op? • A co-op is defined as a formally integrating work experience into an academic program. • They are usually 2-3 semester’s of relevant work experience. • Co-ops are paid at a rate determined by the company.
What are the components of Co-op? • Co-op programs are nationally recognized recruitment programs • Co-op is an academic course • Course registration is $55 • Performance Evaluation
What are the options for a Co-op program? • OPTION I: Alternating • OPTION II: Parallel • OPTION III: One-Year* • OPTION IV: Summer* *Where designated by the academic program.
Eligibility Requirements • Participating students must be admitted to their degree granting college. • Students must complete all course requirements as designated by their academic program. • A minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA is required.
What if I’m on Financial Aid? • Students will continue to be eligible for all Financial Aid. • Students who are participating in an alternating semesters Co-op will have access to the loan portion of their financial aid. All other allocated aid will be carried over to the subsequent semester. • Students who are participating in a parallel Co-op will have access to all financial aid that has been allocated.
What is required before I Co-op? • Complete the application • Attend a required Interviewing Skills • Make an appointment with the Co-op/Internship Coordinator, or Graduate Assistant to have your resume reviewed • Purchase CareerConnections
