  2. Please Note The calculations found in this presentation were specifically developed in accordance with Oklahoma statue. The Oklahoma City Public Schools TLE Task Force worked closely with Learning Sciences International when adopting these caculations. 10/2013

  3. Probationary Teacher Career Teacher • A Probationary Teacher is a teacher who has completed fewer than three (3) consecutive complete school years in OKCPS. • Any teacher hired during the 2012-2013 school year or later. • Retirees will always be a probationary teacher. • A Career Teacher is a teacher who has completed at least three (3) consecutive complete school years in OKCPS. • Any teacher hired during the 2011-2012 school year or earlier.   4. What is a consecutive complete school year? • A teacher fulfills the requirement of a complete school year if they begin employment with the district by the 1st day of instruction. • The school year becomes consecutive when there is an uninterrupted succession of subsequent years. 10/2013

  5. Category I and Category II Teachers • Probationary Teachers = Category I teachers • Career Teachers = Category II teachers 10/2013

  6. Scoring Rules These scoring rules were created by Learning Sciences International and adopted by the District.

  7. Superior Teachers Category I Teachers • Superior= 55% at a Level 4 Category II Teachers • Superior= 65% at a Level 4 55% or 65% of the ratings 45% or 35% of the ratings 10/2013

  8. Highly Effective Teachers Category I Teachers • Highly Effective= 55% at a Level 3 or higher Category II Teachers • Highly Effective= 65% at Level 3 or higher 45% or 35% of the ratings 55% or 65% of the ratings 10/2013

  9. Effective Teachers Category I Teachers • Effective= 25% at Level 2 or higher Category II Teachers • Effective= 35% at Level 2 or higher 75% or 65% of the ratings 25% or 35% of the ratings 10/2013

Needs Improvement Teachers Category I Teachers • Needs Improvement= 75% or more at Level 1 or lower and more than 0% at Level 3 or higher Category II Teachers • Needs Improvement= 65% or more at Level 1 or lower and more than 0% at Level 3 or higher 75% or 65% of ratings More than 0% of the ratings 10/2013

  13. Please Note All calculations on the following slides are based on the scoring rules for a probationary teacher. 10/2013

  14. A Superior Teacher Superior Rating Rule : 55% or more at Level 4. This matches the Rule because the teacher has 56% of her ratings at a level 4. 10/2013

  15. A Highly Effective Teacher Highly Effective Rating Rule : 55% or more at Level 3 or higher. This matches the Rule because the teacher has 56% of her ratings at a level 3 and Level 4. 10/2013

  16. An Effective Teacher Effective Rating Rule : 25% or more at Level 2 or higher. This matches the Rule because the teacher has 32% of her ratings at a Level 2 or higher. 10/2013

  17. A Needs Improvement Teacher Needs Improvement Rating Rule : 75% or more at Level 1 or lower and more than 0% at Level 3 or higher This matches the Rule because the teacher has 84% of her ratings at a Level 1 or lower and 4% at Level 3 and Level 4. 10/2013

  18. An Ineffective Teacher Ineffective Rating Rule : 75% or more at Level 1 or lower and 0% at Level 3 or higher This matches the Rule because the teacher has 80% of her ratings at a Level 1 or lower and 0% at Level 3 and Level 4. 10/2013
