  1. WLTP-DTP-LabProcICE-116 Discussion documenton Mode Construction for conventional vehicles Prepared by UTAC & JRC VTF group under GRPE/WLTP informal group 20 Feb 2011 Bruxelles

  2. Background During the GRPE January 2012, OICA has proposed a mode construction for all types of vehicle. UTAC suggests a slightly different approach for the mode construction for conventional vehicles. The aim is: (1) Allow easier testing during validation 2 (2) Measure influence of the level of RCB (SOC) of the starter battery (3) Take advantage of having a preconditioning cycle = testing cycle

  3. Mode Construction Proposal for Validation 2Conventional vehicles – cold start (Labs with 3 bags) preconditioning LOW 589s MIDDLE 433s HIGH 455s Ex-HIGH 323s Charge starter batteries 1 2 Soak 6-36h 1 PM-Filter for all 4 phases, some labs to measure 2 Filters (L+M, H+ExH), RCB for each phase separately LOW 589s LOW 589s MIDDLE 433s MIDDLE 433s HIGH 455s HIGH 455s Ex-HIGH 323s Ex-HIGH 323s Sample #2 Sample #2 Sample #1 Sample #1 Sample #3 Sample #3 10 min. RCB #1 RCB #1 RCB #4 RCB #4 RCB #2 RCB #2 RCB #3 RCB #3 For testing the following day two possible options: 1- Start again from the charge of starter battery 2- Use testing cycle as preconditioning (no charge of battery)
