Levan & Natan • Levan- “white”- BLS (700) • Every call • Natan- MICU (mobile intensive care unit)- ALS has a paramedic on board (374) • ALS calls functions similarly as paramedic. • Ambucycles (300+)
Types of Calls • Cat A- most urgent/critical medical emergencies (i.e. heart attack, unconscioueness, severe difficulty breathing) -NATAN CALL • Cat B- urgent, are probably not life threatening don’t require NATAN (i.e. faintings, minor injuries, strokes) • Cat C- transport requests to hospital- LEVAN
BLS Equipment in Israel vs. NJ • In Israel: • Police rarely come on calls • They carry and can administer “oxygen”, aspirin, glucose & epi-pen- all on the ambulance • Can take blood sugar at the BLS level (and carry on ambulance) • Contain OPA, BVM, NRB (no NPA or NC) • Contain Basic supplies for bandaging and splinting including backboard. • Contain smaller stretchers built for entry and exit for apartment building and stair chairs (without treads) • No traction splints • No KEDS, flexible stretchers, scoop stretcher.
