Beginning • Awareness raised on B’deshi issue in 2011 • Took a group for a meeting at the FCO • FCO expert on Human Rights acknowledged that violence against minorities cannot be put down to general lawlessness. That there was an element of Religious persecution involved. • I wanted to pursue but my organisation did not. • Links given to US special Commissioners

  3. Issues to progress • Lack of Information in English • People ready, willing and able to take up leads • More asked for and forwarded. • Still an issue • Need to supply list names, CVs

  4. Capacity Building • Steady flow of information • Raising profile at the ECRL • HFE agrees to take forward Human Rights Issues • Links Established with H R Group of European Parliament, led by a Dutch MEP, and VP BikramLalbahadoersin • NGO HRWF

  5. Achievements ECRL HFE Leading to HRWF for the first time publishing B’deshi Hindu bulletin. Invited to submit info on Human Rights Issues by De Jong. Submitted this Autumn. • Submitted proposal for project under Universal Code of Holy Sites • Asked for meeting during WCRP, World Summit 19-23 Nov 2013 • VP WCRP briefed and waiting • Have asked for a meeting with Asian RfP

  6. Immediate Future ECRL HFA WCRP BHBC Unity Council Need to take up and push through. E.g. US special Commissioner Provide names of HBC delegates for Vienna Provide group inside B’desh to lead project • Keep pushing for recognition, Opening doors • To start the Holy Sites project • 16th Nov, meet with MuljiPindolia and give brief • Keep up the pressure and mention in all places we visit

  7. Long Term 1 Make sure cases are reported logged and can be independently corroborated HFE to host conference in European Parliament 2014/15 Better coordination across Continents to achieve more in each surge Some financial support to progress work

  8. Long Term 2 • Set up an Interreligious Council in B’desh • B’deshi Minority join RfP, in US, UK, Eu, etc • Residents prepared to give testament • What else can be done? YOU TELL US • Thank you
