Location and Hours • Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL), 4th Floor • Hours of Operation: • Monday – Friday 9 AM – 5 PM • Monday and Tuesday (fall and spring) • Evening sessions available • By appointment only • No weekend or after hours services • Students only

What every student needs to know CONFIDENTIALITY: Counseling services are strictly confidential : If not a danger to self or others, we only communicate with those YOU give us permission to communicate with. NO FEES: We do not bill you for any services. NO INSURANCE! We do not deal with insurance companies at all. Records are DESTROYED seven years after your last contact.
First Visit: What to Expect 1. Fill out electronic forms (30 mins) 2. Psychosocial evaluation(60 mins): Determine level of care needed. If needs are beyond SCC’s scope of treatment, outside referral will be recommended. 3. Second session on: Focus changes to counseling goals or support while searching for outside resources.
Scope of Services 3. Short Term Individual Counseling • Initial assessment required • If SCC has resources student needs, maximum of 12 sessions per academic year. • Short Term solution focused counseling • Referral Assistance if SCC does not have resources
Group Counseling • Begin Screening early September • 6-8 members • Groups this Fall • Women’s Group • Minority Student Group • General Process Group
Scope of Services 4. Medication Management Services • Initial evaluation with counselor required. • Counseling participation required • ADHD Policy*: Psychological testing required. *Go to www.umaryland.edu/counseling for details.
How to Access Services • Call 410-328-8404 • Stop by to schedule an appointment
Walk In Consultations • Walk in hours: Daily 1:30 p.m. • 20 min. visit/triage model • If not available during walk-in hour or experiencing an urgent matter • ask to speak with a clinician.
