Distinguished Lecturer Program • DLP established 2005; budget effective January 2006 • At present, one 18-month DL appointment will be made per year. • The DL will be provided a budget of ~$15K to cover travel and local expenses and with an Award Certificate. • Nominations are currently being solicited • Selections will be made by the ExCom

  3. Sensors Research Graduate Scholarship Award • Sponsored by GE Research, Munich • Applicants must be current M.S. or Ph.D. level students • 1st $1,000 award to be made at Sensors 2006 Awards Banquet; award includes travel support for the student to attend the conference • 13 applications received from 5 countries • Effort will be made to expand the program in 2006

  4. Technical Operations • Education – • Continuing Education Credits offered for the first time at Sensors 2006 for attendance of workshops (low level of activity for first offering) • M. Maharbiz named Education Sub-Committee chair • Expert Now trial module – details to follow this afternoon • Standards - no activity

  5. Notes (2004) • DLP Program • Bob and Chris will review the 2005 budget and see how much is available for this program. • There was some discussion as to how many DLP’s there should be. Is one too few to have much general interest? I suggested that the details should be decided by the DLP Committee. • Tom Wiener noted that the DLP Comm. should not *exclude* Canada and Latin America (i.e. don’t be “NA” specific). • Can get information from Linda Matarazzo about the “hot technical” areas from the Sensors Journal in order to help select the lecturers • Student Scholarship Program • Change all occurrences of “fellowship” to “scholarship” • Call it the “IEEE Student Scholarship sponsored by GE, etc” • Standards • Appoint a “Standards Chair” – possibly Bernhard Jakoby? • Other: • Establish relationship with major sensors research groups Notes (2005) • DLP Program • Student Scholarship Program • Standards • Other:
