Lessons Learned in our backyard • Accelerating disturbances can produce a narrow swath of very heavy precipitation. • Elevated convection can occur in the colder air mass because of massive cold advection aloft. • Winds can be surprisingly strong particularly if the disturbance is deepening as it lifts out. • Low ceilings are common in the precip shield, but it is unusual to have very low visibility with rain.
