Mentorship Early in the year a mentoring system was created to help new and aspiring ICEA educators and doulas connect with those who have more experience to get help with preparing for certification or developing their practices. Thanks to Jeanine Estrada for setting up the webpage and to Misty Warren, Joanna D’Aleo and Michelle Hardy for coordinating the mentors and candidates. So far, many have offered to mentor but few have requested the help.
Training Updates • The birth doula program revision has been completed. Thanks, Bonita Katz! • The childbirth educator training program revision is in progress. • The postnatal educator certification will no longer be offered, but those who have earned it will be able to recertify as long as they wish.
Online Training Workshops • How to make our training workshops more accessible? • Offering online options appears inevitable. • One ICCE and one ICPD have offered to create online workshops. • Discussion and consideration are ongoing about how to do online training and still provide the degree of personal interaction that is felt necessary and integral to a quality program.
Webinars • To provide continuing education without the need to travel, we are beginning to offer webinars. • The first one will be “Prenatal Fitness: Effects of Exercise On Maternal and Fetal Health” with Catherine Cram, MS. Catherine is the creator of the ICEA’s Prenatal Fitness Educator certification program.
