  1. GO vocab: meticulous Careful attention to detail (only for a person) Detailing a car! • One sunny Saturday morning, Frederick’s dad offered him $20 to clean and detail his car. Eager to make some extra cash, Frederick jumped at the chance. His dad warned him, “It needs to be meticulous. I’m talking serious attention to detail: wash the windows, dust the radio dials, vacuum the rugs, the whole nine yards. If it’s not meticulously cleaned, the deal’s off!” Frederick, who was not playing around, promised his father, “I will be so meticulous that this car will not have a single speck of dirt on it when I’m through.”

  2. GO vocab: prestigious Respected, having an honored reputation (can an award/ organization) Usually has to do with brains/wealth • When the prestigious author Sharon Flake came to visit SMS, the students just about lost their minds. “Ms. Flake,” the students shouted, “We never thought such an honored, well-respected writer as yourself would come to talk at Shelby Middle School! We thought you only visited famous universities with lots of prestige like Yale and Harvard.” • “There’s more to life than a respected reputation and prestige,” she answered, “I want to meet the kids who love my books.”
