  1. The Causes of the Revolutionary War Have you ever wondered how we became the United States of America? Some Colonists didn’t agree with British Rules. There were many causes that led to the Revolutionary War.

  2. The Proclamation of 1763 The Proclamation of 1763 was the first event that caused the War. The King drew a line on the map and told the colonists that they couldn’t go past it. The colonists were upset at Britain because the King told them where to live.

  3. The Tea Act • This was a tax on tea. The colonists did not feel that Parliament had the right to tax the colonists.

  4. The Stamp Act • The next cause that led to the war was The Stamp Act. The colonists had to buy stamps for all of the paper that they bought. The colonists were upset because they didn’t get to vote for the people making the tax.

  5. The Boston Massacre Five colonists were shot by the British soldiers. Colonists & the British were both to blame. Then the Colonists blamed the British. The Colonists wanted the Redcoats to leave.

  6. The Townshend Acts This was a tax on the things the colonists bought from Britain. The colonists thought is was unfair that they did not get to vote.

  7. Boston Tea Party • The colonists were showing Britain they weren’t paying the taxes anymore. They threw all the tea that was taxed into the ocean.

  8. The Intolerable Acts • These were laws to punish the colonists. The British were not paying the British taxes on tea.
