  2. We have already learned several ways to make the /ā/ sound.( a-magic e – as in cake,ai- as in mail, and ay- as in play.) Now we will learn two other ways to spell it, a way that has four letters- eigh and two letters- ei.

  6. Metaphors A metaphor is the comparison of two unlike things. The wind was a bear. In this sentence the wind is being compared to a bear. Meaning the wind was powerful.

  7. Metaphors Tammy is the shining star of our school. In this sentence Tammy is being compared to a star. Meaning Tammy is important to the school.

  8. Metaphors The baby is a treasure. The baby is being compare to a treasure. Meaning the baby is precious.

  9. Metaphors A blanket of snow covered the cabin. The snow is being compare to a blanket. Meaning the snow covered the cabin.

  10. Metaphors Using a metaphor is a creative way to describe something. You could simply say... She cried a lot. Or you could say... She cried a river.

  11. Metaphors Let's describe some things using metaphors. Today is hot. Today is on fire. My dad is strong. My dad is an ox. The table is old. The table is a dinosaur.

  12. Metaphors Read the metaphors below and decide what they mean. Her soft voice was music to our ears. This means her voice was pleasant. Her face was stone. This means her face was hard and cold without expression .

  13. Metaphors Ben's memory was cloudy. This means Ben's memory was not good. Her personality is bubbly. This means she has a happy personality.
