  2. In lesson 5, we talked about words that have doubled s-l-f-z. We you double these letters they still make one sound. Today we will learn about another time when two letters make one sound. bl A blend is two or three letters that make one sound. Each letter is heard but the sounds are blended together.

  3. Say these two letter blended sounds with me. sw sn sp sk bl dr pr sl fl sc gr sm gl cr tw cl fr tr st br pl

  5. Some blends have three letters. Here they are. str thr spr shr scr squ

  10. A fact is something that can be proven true. An opinion is someone's feelings about a particular topic.

  11. Read the following sentences and decided if they are fact or opinion. Rice is the most delicious food to eat. This statement is an opinion. There is no way to prove how delicious something is. This is just how someone feels about rice.

  12. Rice is grown in flooded fields called a rice paddy. This statement is a fact. You could prove whether this is true or not.

  13. Carl Sandburg is a great author. This statement is an opinion. Saying that someone or something is great can not be proven. It is just how someone feels.

  14. Carl Sandburg wrote a book called Rootabaga Stories. This statement is a fact. You could prove whether this is true or not.

  15. I will now read to you The Story of Rags Habakuk, the Two Blue Rats, and the Circus Man Who Cams with Spot Cash Money. As you listen, I want you to see if you can come up with a fact and an opinion from the story.

  16. After putting on the vest, Rags had a good business. This is an opinion. The circus man gave Rags two thousand dollars for the rats. This is a fact.
