  1. SRM Phase 1 Architectural Status

  2. Talking Points • SRM-7 architectural review • What we have • What we need • Risks • How to get there

  3. Architecture diagrams – High level view

  4. Architecture Diagrams – Simple deployment

  5. Architecture Diagrams – Scale deployment

  6. Architecture Diagrams – Remote DataCenter deployment

  7. Architecture diagrams – High level view (revisited)

  8. What we currently have

  9. Risks to Quality Attributes • Serviceability • We have not implemented an SRM-7 logging strategy • We have not implemented a remote support strategy • We have not implemented a remote appliance upgrade • We have not implemented Multi-site • We have not demonstrated key federation use cases • Usability • A customer can not use what we have built so far. • Performance • We have not communicated P&S requirements to dev teams • Dedicated infrastructure for P&S verification not operational. • We cannot answer basic questions about our current P&S profile • How long does it take to login? • How long does it take to discover 10,100,1000 hosts? • How long does it take to search for a host ?

  10. Risks to Quality Attributes • Scalability • We cannot configure or manage multiple SDA instances via SRM-7. • Policies • Data • MGMT • UDG • Security • Element Manager Integration w/ SSO • No resources currently assigned, not clear who owns it yet. • Dependency on SMC/SPA team • Maintainability • We have not implemented appliance health monitoring • Looking at leveraging DCI work in this area • Developer skill silos • Committed to using cutting edge technologies across SRM-7 • Key skills are not understood by a broad base of developers • Modeling skills in particular could prove to be a bottleneck. • Technical Debt • Architecture is not implemented as drawn. • Restlets may not be migrated to OSGI unless prompted by technical oversight • We are not comparing code delivered to architectural blue print on a regular basis

  11. Top 5 Risks

  12. Appendix A: key SRM-7 Activities • Search • Top Level objects like Host, Array, Switch, Fabric, etc… • Documentation • Discovery • Push mechanism • Element manager • Capacity attributes • Addition attributes (MAC Address) • Security • Authorization • Audit • SSO • Appliance Hardening • User Defined Groups (UDG)

  13. Appendix A: key SRM-7 Activities • Admin • Configuration • Logging • Monitoring • Upgrade • Security Patching • Event/Alert • App Management • Discovery policy • Multi SDA Deployment • Performance / Maps • Perf Charts for KPI • Launch element Manager for additional stats • Show map from different perspectives.

  14. Appendix A: key SRM-7 Activities • Security Scorecard • Internationalization Scorecard • Localization of docs • VM sizing
