UNIDAD7 UNIDAD7 UNIDAD7 UNIDAD7 UNIDAD7 UNIDAD8 La lluvia ácida Las industrias, las centrales térmicas y los vehículos emiten a la atmósfera gases contaminantes (como óxidos de nitrógeno y azufre) generados por la combustión de los combustibles fósiles. 1 Los óxidos formados reaccionan con el agua de la atmósfera y se convierten en los ácidos nítrico y sulfúrico, que vuelven a la tierra en forma de lluvia o nieve con una elevada acidez. 2 La lluvia ácida destruye las hojas de los árboles y acidifica el suelo, provocando la muerte de los bosques y la destrucción de los lagos. En las ciudades contribuye al mal de la piedra, que destruye monumentos de caliza o mármol. 3 1 2 3 Biología y Geología 4.º ESO
