  2. DUNCAN GREEN ARBORETUM • Located adjacent to Hwy 26 to the East & West of the drive leading to the Administration Centre. The Main Trail System is located West of the driveway. • October 1998: The first official report approved the establishment of the Duncan Green Arboretum, in memory of the late former Chief Administrative Officer • 1998-2005: The development of the trail system, gazebo, benches and planting beds was completed. The wood chips that were used to line the trails were provided by the thinning of the County Forest.

DUNCAN GREEN ARBORETUM 2005: Arboretum Steering Committee formally established by County Council. 2006 : Money earned from the sale of the timber from the Arboretum was used to purchase and install signs, irrigation, bollards and wood chips along the trails. Spring 2007: Compost & wood chips were obtained from the County’s Environmental Services Department, which were used for the planting of beds and throughout the trails. Students known as The Rangers worked together to complete this work.

DUNCAN GREEN ARBORETUM Summer 2007: The Arboretum Steering Committee has prepared a report outlining recommendations including a proposed entrance structure, that will allow the Arboretum to become a prominent part of the Administrative Grounds. The space provides an educational component for Forestry and the Museum programs, as well as a relaxing place for staff and visitors to visit and learn about the County forests and the various recognitions. The Committee plans to continue to develop a long-term vision and sustainable plan for the Arboretum through 2007-2008.
