Project Goals • Improve the appearance of Corning’s Traditional Downtown & Improve Downtown Business “climate”
Why Improve Downtown Appearance? • Attracts VISITORS; i.e. customers, clients, diners, which means: • More COMMERCE, which creates: • More INTEREST in being downtown, which means: • COMPETITION for Commercial spaces, higher rents, which trigger: • Facade Improvements on private property that attract new tenants and VISITORS
Funding • The project is a $2.2 million Transportation Enhancement (TE) Project. • Supported & Funded by the California Transportation Commission & Tehama County Transportation Commission
Focus on Public Spaces • We focus on Public Spaces; i.e. sidewalks and streets, because City has ownership. • Project will include decorative pavers, new sidewalk, street trees, new pavement, streetlights, …
