Departments are decentralized-programs & schools span 3 different buildings Shortage of available offices for last 8-10 years, no additional office space available to accommodate addition or growth of programs Environmental issues with the Gyte-Annx The pool of vacant offices has become available with in the past year as a result of the 7% staffing reduction, early retirement incentives & the relocation of the HTM & ME faculty to new offices. Moratorium on faculty office moves since Summer 2011
Faculty Office Reallocation Plan 2012 . • Desired plan outcomes: • Relocate Nursing Faculty and Administrators out of the Gyte-Annex Building • Create better adjacencies for office assignments within departments & schools • Implement office assignment standards – in that each academic department will be allocating faculty office space in a consistent manor. • a. Full-Time Tenure & Tenure Track Faculty receive priority for dedicated office assignments with window if available • b. Full Time Non-Tenure Track faculty will share an office. The target square footage allocation for shared office space is 60 square foot per person. • c. LTL’s , GL’s, GA & TA’s will be located in shared workstation rooms – not in private offices • All future faculty office assignments will be managed by the Academic Facilities Department. A policy for office allocation will be developed
Faculty Office Reallocation Plan 2012 • -moves to begin the week of 5/21/12 – moves to conclude by 8/1/12 • -moves will be phased- Weekly schedules are under development • -departments impacted • SOT = Engr Tech, ConstSci, Comp Info & Graphics • LASS = English, Hist & Pol Sci, FLL & BHS • EMS = Math, Bio, Chem & Electrical Engr • SON = Nursing • IPO instructors • -approximately 125 faculty & staff will be relocated • -renovation required as a part of the plan includes: DeptOffices for Engineering Tech, CIT&G, Math & the relocation of the FLL Language lab from Clo to Porter
