  2. The perfect active subjunctive • The perfect subjunctive uses the PERFECT stem (the 3rd principal part) • Steps • Take the perfect stem • Add ‘eri’ • Add endings • Amo, amare, amavi, amatum • Stem= amav • Stem + eri= amaveri • Stem + eri + endings= amaverim

  3. The perfect active subjunctive • What does this form look identical to? • The future perfect indicative! • Except!: • The future perfect 1st singular is – amavero • The perfect active subjunctive 1stsg. Is- amaverim

The pluperfect active subjunctive • Also formed from the 3rd principal part • Steps: • Take the 3rd principal part • Add ‘isse’ • Add personal endings • Amo, amare, amavi, amatum • Stem= amav • Stem + isse = amavisse • Stem + isse + endings= amavissem • What does this form look very similar to? • The perfect active infinitive= amavisse

  5. Perfect and Pluperfect PASSIVE • These are formed through the 4th principal part (just like the perfect/pluperfect indicative passive)

  6. Perfect Passive Subjunctive • 4th principal part + the present subjunctive of sum • So for amo • Amatus, a, um sim • Amatus, a, um sis • Etc.

  7. Pluperfect Passive Subjunctive • 4th principal part + the imperfect subjunctive of sum • So for amo • Amatus, a, um essem • Amatus, a, um esses • Etc.
