The Medici Family 1. Also known as "The House of Medici" was a wealthy family that ruled for hundreds of years during the Renaissance 2. This family ruled Florence from the mid 1400's till the 1730's 3. Rose to power thanks to the banking industry
The Medici Family 4. Artists like Donatello, Michelangelo, and Da Vinci flourished thanks to the money given to them by the Medici Family 5. Medici family was so powerful that four Popes got that position b/c of Medici (Pope = leader of Catholic Church) 6. The first important Medici was Cosimo de Medici (Cosimo the Elder)
