Apple Computer Support Scope Includes • Identify and document infrastructure needed to manage Macintosh systems on the domain • Active Directory authentication on domain • Remote deployment of Mac image, security updates • Remote desktop capabilities
Apple Computer Support Scope Includes • Development of Support mechanisms(knowledge base/FAQ) • Rebranding of Mac Shack • All staff will be able to handle Tier 1 support calls • Expand training for Tier I technicians toward Apple Certified Technician status Support • Update Magic Ticket Survey • Establish tracking mechanisms for Mac support calls
Apple Computer Support Scope Includes • Develop standards and procedures • Create standard configuration for dual-boot Macs • Communication plan
Apple Computer Support Scope Excludes • Develop standard images for Macs • Mac hardware standards will not be addressed • Mac servers in areas outside of OIT
Apple Computer Support Success Measures • 80% positive Customer feedback gathered during the first 6 months after launch (gathered from Magic Ticket Surveys to gauge increased perception of support) • 30% of calls are resolved in the first call during the first 6 months after launch • At least 100 existing Macs authenticate against AD • At least 100 are upgraded to standard OS configuration

Research Data Center • Dedicated space for research systems • Clean filtered power with UPS for power outages • Cooling and a clean air environment • Consulting services and assistance - OIT • Support services – 3rd party provider • Secured and monitored area.
Visualization Lab • Visualization wall - 24 30” monitors in a 6x4 grid • Haptic device for image manipulation • 52” high definition 3D TV • Smart board • 24 blade server cluster
Research Data Facility Project Success Measures • Visualization Lab area renovated and ready to use by October 2010. • 3 projects and 3 classes to use the Visualization Lab before the end of 2010. • Renovation of area assigned for new data center complete and new facility ready to use by February 2011. • Relocate 8 existing research equipment racks from JPL data center to new facility. Complete by March 2011. • Increase new data center utilization by three times the initial load before March 2012. • Recovery of 5% of space, cooling and power capacity in the JPL data center, and reduce the UPS power loads by 5% on the JPL DC.
