  1. HSE LEARNING • INCIDENT: • HGV driver injured his back when he was involved in a road accident at the Nizwa – Imty junction (at 23:21) while transporting pipes from Muscat to Haima. The vehicle left the road and travelled approximately 40 meters where it struck the compound wall of a building. • CAUSES: • Driver under the effect of alcohol • Failure of the Journey Management Centre • LEARNINGS: • Do not drive or work under the effects of • drugs or alcohol • Robust Journey Management should be • Implemented • Wear seat belts when in a moving vehicle • Enforcement of Consequence Management Key Learning: Don’t drink and drive and always wear your seat belt RTA – Back Injuries Use this Alert: Discuss in Tool Box Talks and HSE Meetings  Distribute to contractors  Post on HSE Notice Boards  Include in site HSE Induction Contact: MSE511 for further information or visit the HSE Website Alert No 87 LTI #6 July, 2012
