When? Where? • Began in 1642 in Nottingham
Who? The “Royalists” or “Cavalier's”: Charles supporters: made up of noble families, Catholics lead by King Charles VS Parliamentarians: Puritans, local militia, farmers, townspeople, eventually alliance with the Scots led by Oliver Cromwell
New soldiers: “Roundheads”: - religious - strong and equipped with new body armour.
Grand Remonstrance • Parliament divided: • Puritans want to abolish monarchy, and churches to be independent of each other. • Presbyterians agreed to king’s limited powers and wanted churches to be organized and worshiped the same Result?
