Commas help make the meaning of your sentences clear. • When you list three or more words in a sentence, the list is called a series. Use the word and or or before the last item in the series. Place a comma after each item except the last one.
Examples • Gold is found in California, Idaho, and Georgia. • Tim, Jill, and Bill like to swim in the ocean. • Tim watched the men, women, and children eat the ice-cream. • They sift, shake, and slosh the sand on the beach.
