Partnership Activities The following is a list of the broad categories in which business and community partners may participate with schools and examples of activities that may been done in each These lists are not all inclusive and you may create activities that best meet the needs of your students utilizing the resources of your business and community partners
Areas of Partnership Participation • Instructional Support and Enrichment • Material and Financial Support • Staff Development • Curriculum Development • Utilization of Business Facilities, Equipment and Resources • Service Learning / Community Service • School Advisory Council and Policy Advocacy
Instructional Support & Enrichment Business partners provide employees with work-release time to volunteer • Mentor • Tutor • Read with/to students • Create a mock business in a classroom • Give students work-related assignments to do • Provide field trips, shadowing experiences • Provide incentives for academic achievement • Work with classroom teachers to develop lesson plans that support curriculum Teacher grants available through Partners In Education
Material and Financial Support • Donate funds for books or educational supplies • Pay for low-income students to go on field trips • Purchase school uniforms • Provide students with school supplies • Underwrite the cost of students competing in state and national competitions • Purchase food baskets for needy families during the holidays
Staff Development • Open employee training to school and district staff • Employ teachers in a curriculum related field during the summer • Bring teachers, and students, to professional conferences and seminars • C level executives partner with principals through Executive Partner Program
Curriculum Development • Participate on curriculum advisory boards • Work with Magnet Program and Academy teachers to bring industry knowledge to the classroom

Post Test List three activities that you can do with partners and the category of activity to which it belongs. Make sure your list contains one from at least three different partnership areas. Discuss what steps you might take with teachers at your school to encourage them to use partners in their classrooms.
