Why College in Colorado? College in Colorado career surveys help students to identify and explore careers that are a good fit for their unique interests and personality type.
Holland’s Theory • There are 6 different Personality Types Realistic (Doers) Investigative (Thinkers) Artistic (Creators) Social (Helpers) Enterprising (Persuaders) Conventional (Organizers) • There are 6 basic types of work environments Realistic (Doers) Investigative (Thinkers) Artistic (Creators) Social (Helpers) Enterprising (Persuaders) Conventional (Organizers) • By selecting a career or work environment that matches your personality type, you are more likely to be successful and satisfied in your work!
Game: Is this a match? • Teacher directions (optional): • Print handout and make front/back copies so that one side says yes and the other side says no. • Cut out around boxes and make sure there are enough cards for each student in the class. • When you read the personality and career descriptions (next 3 slides), have students hold up a yes if they think this person and career would be a good match and a no if they think it is not a good match.
Is this a match? Career: Agricultural Technician You set up and maintain laboratory equipment and collect samples from crops or animals. You prepare specimens and record data to assist scientists in biology or other related experiments. The people you work with like to work by themselves and don't like explaining their ideas to other people. • Personality Type: Social • You are a "Helper". • You enjoy assisting people in various ways. • You like working in groups. • You find that verbal and communication skills come naturally to you. • You like being around people and helping them with problems • Socializing is fun for you Social Investigative “Helpers” “Thinkers”
