  2. Challenges: Why desegregation should be our target? • The victims of segregation do not initially desire to be segregated; they do not prefer to be with their own people, despite of the fact that this belief is commonly stated by those who are not segregated.

  3. How to integrate? • Poor experiences • No methods • Who wants integration?

  4. Conflicts • Between local municipalities and roma • Roma • Local and government

  5. The structure of the programme 4 major sub-groups: • housing • social care • job integration/reintegration • community work, developing of the Roma community

Housing integration • The main aim of the housing integration was decreasing/eliminatingsegregation. • to achieve this they can: • eliminate the segregated area • The municipalitycan sell the land for a different purpose and • movethe people living in this area and integratethem into the wider community • Both privatelyowned and municipalsocialhousingwasprovided. • Insomecasesthesocialhousingwastransferredtotheownership of an NGO • After 10 yearsthesocialhousingcan be transferredtotheownership of thehouseholds • stop people moving into the segregated area by not giving out or selling any more land of the area to the most disadvantaged ones

  7. Activities: • moving the most disadvantaged ones into integrated areas • purchase and redevelopments of old buildings • building new homes • purchase a land for building new homes • Refurbishment • other social, education, employment etc. And community activities
