High Level Goals • Long term goals: • Implement science inquiry in TUHSD secondary schools. • Implement and embed science/engineering research projects within all science courses offered in the TUHSD science curriculum. • Establish a district science and engineering fair. • Implement a tri-district science and engineering fair between Kyrene Elementary, Tempe Elementary and Tempe Union High School Districts. • Increase funding to support science and engineering fairs. • Increase the number of students participating in science and engineering fairs by 50% within 3 years. • Increase student participation at ISEF.
High Level Goals • Short term goals: • Implement a curriculum for the Advanced Studies Course at McClintock High School/Peggy Payne Academy. • Establish a bank of mentors to assist students. • Enroll 4-7 students in the Advanced Studies course for 2009-10 school year. • Participation of 4-7 students in Arizona Science and Engineering Fair. • Recruit art, photo and theater teachers to help students develop oral and visual presentation skills. • Integrate science/engineering projects into the MHS/PPA honors science curriculum. • Publish project abstracts for all completed projects.
