RCP vs. NCP • Area of activity – only a given region, not a whole country • Scope of activity – all actions of Framework Programmes, often other RTD programmes as well (international, european, national level) • Capacities - better knowledge of regional RTD potential • Accessibility – easier to reach for clients

What makes an effective RCP? • Acting from a sense of mission • Implementing a well defined strategy • Planning activities in response to the real needs • Reaching target clients • Networking with other RCPs – exchanging best practices • Results – more and more succesful projects from the region

  4. Mission To increase the participation of researchers and SMEs in the EU Framework Programmes Long-term goals of RCP should be based on the idea of regional development and promotion of human resources by dissemination of the information on EU FP and ERA.

Strategy • Addressing regional issues and problems • Analysing Framework Programmes opportunities • Creating good knowledge management tools • Promoting -public presentations • Networking - contacts • Human Resources and lifelong learning • Having own projects • Programming activities on annual basis

Activities (1) • Information and rising awareness: • Organisation of events or contribution to events conferences, info-days, workshops, exhibitions, etc. • Publications (Leaflets, Guides, etc.) • Information on financeandIPR aspects of funding as well as project coordination and management • Coordination: • Cooperation with the National Contact Point network (other Regional and Thematic/Local Contact Points) and with contact points abroad. • Help, coordination and enlargement of the Local Contact Points network • Cooperation with the regional universities, SMEs, research centres, etc.

  7. Activities (2) • Consulting and Assistance • Help to potential participants • Dissemination of the information materials (information sets, forms, leaflets, etc.) • !!! Creating a consortium (help to find partners) !!! • Consultation sessions (preparation and verification of proposals; project realisation ) • Help-line to provide general advice or signpost to more specific sources of assistance • Use of mailing-lists and website for communication • Dissemination and Promotion • Success stories from the region – e.g. during conferences • Using conventional media, websites and mailing-lists • Contributions to national or international events to transfer best practices • Installing long term relations with regional organisations such as chambers of commerce or industry, technology parks, etc.

  8. Target clients • Any entity, coming from the region, from any scientific or technological field (either organisation or individual) that is interested in RTD international cooperation • Advanced researchers • Early-stage researchers • Enterpreneurs • Public authorities

RCP in figures(e.g. Wielkopolska Region, Poland – RCP in Poznan Science & Technology Park) • Resources – 6 people, office - 40 m2, meeting room, website updated regularly • Events – around 1000 participants per year • Consultancies – more than 2000 per year • Results – more than 120 FP6 projects in Wielkopolska region so far (more than half of them consulted in RCP)
