Get to Know Me My experience My background I was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi I grew up in Hallettsville, Texas. I attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through 6th grade Hallettsville Junior High Hallettsville High School Blinn Junior College Graduated with an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M College Station Graduate degree from University Texas Pan American in Early Childhood and Reading and my second graduate degree is in Educational Leadership. Writing • Writing and Reading go hand in hand. • We will be writing to reinforce reading
Reading- • Briefly list the reading topics -5W’s (Who, What, Where, When Why and How) and activities • Add a book list
A.R. Testing • Every quarter the student who earned the most A.R. points will be recognized and earn a prize. • Every quarter there will be an A.R. Store to purchase prizes with your A.R. points. (If you have ideas for the store, let Mrs. Wiedenfeld know.)
Procedures Travelling • Students should be in a line and good order when going as a group to any location. • When travelling in a line, students should be silent, because other classes are in session. (Paraphrased from Faculty Manual) Leaving the Classroom • Students may not leave the classroom, unless they are with another adult. (no bathroom breaks!) • Don’t bring electronic devices!
Procedures in Class • Students will wait outside the library door for Mrs. Wiedenfeld to shake and greet you. (Leave all books or backpacks at the door against the wall.) • Upon entering the library, place the book that you want to return under your assigned chair. • Prepare for the library program by sitting in your assigned chair. • Once the class is complete, students may begin checking out books. • Remember: You must take and pass at least one A.R. quiz every quarter. If you do not Mrs. Wiedenfeld will be reporting beck to your instructor and Mr. Marcum.
Class Procedures Continued • If a student chooses not to select a book, he or she must bring a book and read while the other students are checking out. (If this procedure is not followed, the librarian will have the choice of what reading material must be read and answered.) • When book(s) have been selected and the student is ready to check out, students will line up in a straight line in front of the check-out computer and wait patiently to have their books checked-out. • Once three students are in line, the fourth and other students ready to check out will sit at the assigned table and quietly read his/her book. • As Mrs. Wiedenfeld checks out your new book, older students will be responsible for placing the books back on the shelf where they belong. (See Consequences)
Class Procedures • After a student’s book has been checked out, he or she may return to his or her assigned seat and read a book he or she has selected. • Students will be dismissed one at a time to line up to depart from the library. • The librarian will ask each student a question about the lesson as he or she is dismissed. • May God bless you as you follow these procedures.

Consequences(As stated in the Parent/Student Handbook) 1st Consequence: Classroom Warning 2nd Consequence Lunch Detention 3rd Consequence Call to Parents (After School Detention)
Consequences -Continued Any student who participated in writing or passing notes, obscenities, defiance, back talk, lying, defacing books or school property (chairs) or personal property, leaving the assigned room or other area without permission, or cheating will automatically receive detention after school. Students who are cheating will also receive a zero on that assignment.
Consequences -Continued Any student who is fighting, brings undesirable printed or other material to school, or performs an action that is injurious or potentially injurious to another person will be automatically suspended for the remainder of the school day. Classroom Community Our classroom rules help us get along with each other: • Be respectful and responsible • Be prepared • Be on time • Be neat
Library Policy The librarian will be on campus Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please try to bring in all your check out books during those days. Routine library material checkout limits are as follows: First Grade 1 book for 1 week Second and Third Grade 2 books for 2 weeks Fourth through Eight Grade 3 books for 2 weeks
All books should be returned within the prescribed time. After 15 days of having an overdue book(s), the students can no longer checkout until the situation is resolved. Report cards will be held in the office until overdue books are resolved. All books must be turned in the first week of December and second week in May. Your parents will receive an email letting them know your book(s) is/are missing and the price of the book(s) to be replaced.
Due to the rising cost of books, the actual price plus processing will be charged for lost books. A 30-day time limit will be allowed to find the book. If the book is recovered within the 30 days of paying for it, the cost can be returned. Students damaging books, which are still usable, will be charged a maximum fine of $2.00. • Reference books are to be used in the library. Library materials may be looked up on our automated catalog, Inquiry. We have this available in the classroom as well as the library.
Computer Use The computers are to be used for educational/information gathering purposes of the school curriculum. These computers are to be used by all students. • Be courteous to other library users. If you feel you have been on the computer to long, you probably have. Let someone else utilize the computer. • AR test are taken on the computers. Reports are generated by the librarian. • If you behavior on the computers is not conducive to an instructional situation, you will be asked to log off the computer.
Summer Reading Program • PreK-8thGrade----Read the 10 books for the summer reading program for H.E.B. Buddy • Earn a free T-shirt • Bring filled out form by the last Thursdayof August. (August 29th)
