  3. Introduction • Broken down, the main parts of the brain are relatively simple • The four largest sections of the brain are grouped into the Cerebral Cortex – Frontal, Parietal, Temporal, and Occipital lobes

  4. Frontal Lobes • Located in the way front of your head- right behind forehead • Controls your judgment, impulse control, and reasoning • Develops mostly throughout birth until late teens

  5. Parietal Lobes • Located in middle of brain • Pain and touch sensation • Movement • Recognition • Processing of the senses • Damaging this brain section will affect various functions

  6. Temporal lobes • Located on the lower side of each cerebral hemisphere • Includes auditory areas and perceives sound • Receives information from opposite ear • The hippocampus, which processes long-short term memories is here

  7. Occipital lobes • Located in the bottom-back of head • Main function is eyesight – why if you hit back of your head, you may see stars or blackness • Receives info from visual fields
