2013 NSREC Conference Chair, Jeff Black, Sandia National Labs • 2013 NSREC accounts were turned over to the IEEE on Oct. 11, 2013 • $107,619 balance in account • Outstanding bills to be paid - mailing expenses associated with Dec. TNS (~$7000) and IEEE NPSS loan ($50,000) • Return slightly over $50,000 (~10% return) • Audit is expected to be complete by the end of March or beginning of April 2014 • A student first-authored paper was recognized with the overall Outstanding Conference Paper Award
2014 NSREC, July 14-18 Conference Chair, Robert Ecoffet, CNES • Will use only CB account • How to handle the VAT has been a major challenge • Worked with multiple folks from IEEE and in some cases have received conflicting information • Now working with IEEE Tax Management staff to develop procedures on how to handle the VAT, including understanding the IEEE report requirements • It is essential that the IEEE develop some detailed guidelines/procedures for handling finance and bank issues for international conferences • Have received funds from 14 conference supporters • Exhibit booth space at the conference has already sold out • 304 abstracts being reviewed for possible presentation at conference (~125 more than are typically submitted)
2015, 2016, and 2017 NSRECs • 2015 - Conference Chair, Mike Xapsos, NASA GSFC • July 13-17 - Marriott, Copley Place, Boston • Initial budget submitted on Nov 23, 2013 for NPSS approval • 2016 - Conference Chair, Robert Reed, Vanderbilt • DoubleTree (and Portland Convention Center) in Portland, OR • Conference committee currently being selected • 2017 – Conference Chair, VéroniqueFerlet-Cavrois, ESA/ESTEC • She has proposed the New Orleans Marriott as the potential site for the 2017 IEEE NSREC • RESG will meet in New Orleans, LA in March to evaluate the selected site
